Sofitel Melbourne On Collins is once again supporting one of the city's signature events, the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces series, showcasing a diverse selection of European Masters along with an exhibition of the work of film maker and artist, Tim Burton.

The National Gallery of Victoria will exhibit one of the world's finest collections of 19th and 20th century art European Masters: Städel Museum, 19th-20th Century with over 100 works by 70 artists from one of Germany's oldest and most respected museums, the Städel Museum in Frankfurt.  European Masters will provide an unprecedented opportunity to see a spectacular group of masterpieces spanning the dynamic and transformative years of the 19th and 20th century, from the beauty and immediacy of French Impressionism to the raw power of German Expressionism, rarely seen outside of Europe.

At the same time, the Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI) returns to the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces series in 2010 with an Australian exclusive exhibition direct from The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York with a showcase of Tim Burton's extraordinary works.  The exhibition will explore Burton's career as director, concept artist illustrator and photographer, through hundreds of arts works illuminating the creative vision behind Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Sweeney Todd.

Both exhibitions are exclusive to Melbourne and Sofitel Melbourne On Collins is offering accommodation and dining packages which include tickets to either exhibition.
