Immerse yourself in some of our planet's most extraordinary biodiversity
Macquarie Island is a highlight of our Antarctic and Sub-Antarctic expeditions. Tune in to Channel 7's 'Sunday Night' show at 6.30pm this Sunday to see why Macquarie Island is often described as one of the "wonder spots" of the world - said to rival South Georgia in its magnificence, scenic diversity and prolific wildlife. Protected by the Southern Ocean, secluded and seldom visited, the Australian and New Zealand Sub-Antarctic Islands, recognised as one of the worlds' precious regions of unique biodiversity, will be visited by Orion on 4 separate expeditions in December 2009 and January 2010.
The expedition team will include the highly respected British zoologist and naturalist Dr John Sparks and Antarctic explorers Don and Margie McIntyre. Guest lecturers include well known scientist and media presenter Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki, ornithologist Glenn Ehmke of
Birds Australia, photographer Nick Rains and Natural History expert and author Neville Peat who will guide you through the voyage.
