Burn The Floor - The International Ballroom Dance Spectacular
Following its six month record breaking season on Broadway, Burn the Floor is opening its 2010 World Tour, with an exclusive 20 performance schedule, at The Palms at Crown from Saturday 20 February until Sunday 7 March.
Burn the Floor became a hit on Broadway in July 2009, breaking box office records at the Longacre Theatre on 48th Street, New York.
The latest “Broadway Edition” of Burn the Floor evolved in the last year, with a makeover from choreographer Jason Gilkison. He continues his quest to reinvent Ballroom Dancing, opening the show with a stunning theatrical twist, five new musical pieces, and the addition of musicians and vocalists to this show.
USA dance stars, from So You Think You Can Dance ANYA GARNIS and PASHA KOVALEV along with ARTEM CHIGVINSTEV join the company for the Palms at Crown dates.
Burn the Floor is a breathtaking blend of Latin and Ballroom dance first conceived as a special performance at Sir Elton John's 50th birthday celebration in 1997. Two years later, the show made its world premiere in the U.K. and quickly took the globe by storm.
From Harlem’s hot nights at The Savoy, where dances such as the Lindy, Foxtrot and Charleston were born, to the Latin Quarter where the Cha-Cha, Rumba and Salsa steamed up the stage, Burn the Floor takes audiences on a journey through the passionate drama of dance. The elegance of the Viennese Waltz, the exuberance of the Jive, the intensity of the Paso Doble - audiences will experience them all, as well as the Tango, Samba, Mambo, Quickstep, and Swing. It’s Ballroom dance with a sexy 21st century edge.
“Hot, hot, hot!” declared New York 1.
The New York Times said “it’s audience-dazzling!”
The New York Daily News gave it four stars and hailed its “four alarm sizzle”.
“a two-hour adrenaline rush featuring some of the best ballroom dancers in the world”. John Simon of Bloomberg.com called it, “dance theatre, utterly theatrical”
“Intoxicatingly Sensuous” Robert Feldberg, The Record.
